I am beginning to work with and on anecdotes, but no, I am not about to share some amusing stories. I am interested in this history of the word itself. It comes from Procopius' 6c. Anecdota, the unpublished memoirs of Emperor Justinian, which gave the word a sense of "revelation of secrets.” I will be going back but also forward, thinking of the dismissal of some research as anecdotal and the use of anecdotes in theory. Queer Anecdotes may or may not end up as a book. It will be a journey through secrets and shadows and unsharp transitions to publication.
